LOGO DESIGN
On the left we see the Twisted Tarot Tales logo design. I based this on the great hand drawn logos of the comic books of the 60's to the 80's with an obvious horror feel to it. While it was hand drawn and thought up by myself, it bears a sort of familiar resemblance to children's horror like "Goosbumps" or the "Horrible Histories" series.
All logos have a feel to them, whether they represent trust and dependability, strength, gentleness, environmentally friendly etc. In the case of our Twisted Tarot Tales logo I feel it conveys bright colourful packaging, the kind of thing you might find written on a children's toy store package representing something creepy and horrible (think Ghostbusters, Monsters in My Pocket, Supernaturals, Boglins and other mild horror themed toys) Why hire someone to create a unique logo? A logo is a name, trademark or symbol of a company and people generally find it easier to remember a simple image over words alone. Our eyes are drawn to visual objects and well designed logos add visual appeal to printed documents and web pages. The reason you would hire someone to create a unique logo for your business is because your business is unique to you, unique to your community, and an original logo helps exemplify that. |
A Word against Clip Art/ ready made logo Templates
It's tempting to use clip art or premade templates, you know the kinds of imagery you find on dozens of similar business cards which never stand out in your mind, because these are cheap and sometimes even free. Unfortunatly these will never stand out. Why? Every small business that doesn't want to invest in good quality logos/designs, original and tailored to them, are using the free templates over and over again which means that their originality through "their" logos decreases daily by default. While free templates/clip art has paved the way for everyone to have logos and designs for their business, by default they cannot be unique to any one business which dramatically reduces customer memorability. If you want to be remembered, you must avoid this. |
Another point worth mentioning is that when you’re in the market to have a new logo developed, clip art is not a great idea due to the fact that the image probably isn’t licensed for use as a logo. Another option might be customizing a “ready-made” logo template but these templates are arguably still clip art and you’ll never be sure if the work is original to the particular site, which potentially could lead to legal problems as most template sites are ‘anonymous’.(and yes, I hate to say it again, used by thousands of other businesses) There’s only one effective way to have an original and effective logo for your business, and that’s to do it the old fasioned way. Have a skilled professional with the experience to do the job, who is willing to hand over the rights to you for your logo, where you can use it anywhere. I like to think I can work with you in creating any of your logo needs.
